It's not just a name. It's the mood cast by the industry higher-ups greenlighting projects over seared foie gras, and the boys club grappling over nine ball in the game room. It's the beauties lounging in the Moroccan bar sipping on bilinis and the invite-only guests ordering $200 of Chianti Antinori in the velvet room. Social Hollywood is the where the socialites come to socialize. Jeffrey Chodorow (whose nightlife dynasty includes NY's popular China Grill, the Westside's Asia de Cuba and Social Miami) has turned the expansive space that once housed the Hollywood Athletic Club into an exclusive, classy destination. The downstairs dining room and bar are open to anyone with reservations, cash to spare and a taste for Moroccan fusion (signature aioli crabcakes are complemented with a refreshing gazpacho shooter). However, the upstairs is divided into three exclusive lounges -- one you're allowed to enter by staff invite and the other two require membership (no dues, unless you count the ones you paid to be in the biz). But with enough visibility, scaling the Social ladder may be within reach.
